Collecting SOGI Data in Clinical Practice: Policy Updates, Practical Approaches, and Improving Care for LGBTQ+ Patients

This one-hour panel will review recent Maine legislation and policy developments related to the collection of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) data and what these changes mean for clinicians and health care organizations. Panelists Brock Libby, MD; Heide Lester, Deputy Director at EqualityMaine; and Anne Sedlack, MSW, Esq., Director of Advocacy at the Maine Medical Association, will discuss the clinical value of SOGI data, including how inclusive data collection supports patient-centered care, improves health outcomes, and helps identify and address health disparities affecting LGBTQ+ populations.
